Susan J. Wommack, Director of Development for Baylor Law, has worked for University Development for over 15 years. Susan received a BA in International Business from the University of Texas at Austin, receiving recognition as a Dean's Distinguished Graduate for the School of Liberal Arts. Upon the recommendation of her father and a longtime family friend, Susan was directed to Baylor Law. Law school seemed to fit her competitive nature and love of reading while also securing her three more years of intramural eligibility. During law school, there were several exceptional events: a great husband, a good job, and the flag football intramural championship.
After graduating from Baylor Law in 1989, Susan was an associate with Touchstone, Bernays, Johnston, Beall & Smith in Dallas, Texas as an insurance defense attorney. Following a move back to Waco, she practiced with Segrest & Segrest representing Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, the largest power and transmission electric cooperative in Texas, in the area of public utility law. She is licensed in Texas and Georgia.
Susan was given the opportunity to pursue her “Atticus” role when she left private practice to become the Gift Planning Attorney for Baylor University Development in 2000. In 2013, Susan was extremely pleased to move to Baylor Law where she serves in her current role: Senior Director of Development. Her responsibilities include working with alumni, law firms, and other friends to raise financial support for the law school and its programs, and working closely with the Office of the President.
Susan and her husband, Chris, have a daughter (Alex) and a son (Chase). Chris and Susan are members of First Baptist Church of Woodway.
