Daniel Hare serves as the Director of Career Development - Employer Relations, a position he began in September of 2012. Daniel’s primary role is to cultivate relationships with firms, businesses and/or organizations which may have a need to hire a Baylor lawyer. He does this primarily through in-person visits all over the state; in less than two years Hare has personally met with over 200 employers. He also works with the On-Campus Interview programs, conducts mock interviews for students, maintains the office’s Twitter page and website, and writes a weekly blog for students. Hare is the liaison between the CDO and the marketing and communication office, and jointly they produce and distribute all of the office’s marketing material. He also assists with student programming and securing guest speakers.
Daniel came back to Baylor after a stint as Director of Athletics at NCAA Division II Western Oregon University. There he oversaw thirteen varsity sports and nearly 50 full and part time coaches and staff, while serving on the President's Cabinet. During Hare's tenure the Wolves achieved their best all-sports competitive finish at the Division II level, and had multiple teams win conference championships and qualify for NCAA postseason play. He increased resources in the area of NCAA compliance and strength and conditioning, while at the same time recognizing student-athletes for their academic successes and performing a gender equity audit. Hare led a redesign of the athletics logo, as well as its trademark protection and licensing. He also negotiated with Adidas one of the only direct apparel relationships in Division II. Hare oversaw the redesign of the Wolves' athletic website, worked to add an online store for WOU gear, and developed online ticketing. Finally, Hare increased fundraising capacities by developing the Wolves Club, an annual giving organization to fund athletic scholarships.
Hare came to Western Oregon from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO), where he served as Director of Athletic Compliance. There, Hare coordinated rules education and monitoring for a department with 14 sports, and was a member of the athletics senior staff. He authored a required NCAA report detailing UCO's compliance efforts in the wake of a major infractions case which occurred prior to his arrival. Hare also worked with university computing services at UCO to develop a software program to assist coaches with recruiting monitoring and paperwork.
While attending Baylor Law, Hare spent the summer of 2007 interning at CBS College Sports (formerly CSTV, Inc.) in New York City. There he drafted and reviewed contracts for online services and television sublicenses, and also researched and analyzed intellectual property and contract issues.
From 2003-2006, Hare served as Athletic Development Officer at Baylor University. There he worked with each coach and their sport specific fundraising clubs and events. He oversaw significant growth in both men's and women's basketball booster clubs, while also helping to raise funds to renovate both sports' locker rooms. Hare also led a group of over 100 volunteers to help generate over $2 million for the Bear Foundation, Baylor's primary annual giving organization. He was responsible for coordinating the Foundation's Young Alumni group as well.
Hare got his start working in men's basketball at the University of Oklahoma, his undergraduate alma mater. Hare started as a student manager, worked his way to student assistant and graduate assistant, and eventually as a full-time staff member. His duties consisted of recruiting, video editing, and working with the basketball booster club.
Hare received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma (OU) in 2000, and his master's in business administration with an emphasis in sports administration from OU in 2003. Hare earned his juris doctor from Baylor University in 2009.
Hare is married to the former Adrienne Davis. The couple resides in Hewitt, and are the proud parents of Brooklyn (’12) and Griffin (’14).
