Baylor Law Professor Mike Morrison to Participate in Texas Redistricting Discussion
Professor of Law Emeritus Mike Morrison will bring his 40+ years of experience representing cities, counties, and school districts throughout Texas and Arkansas on redistricting issues to a virtual panel discussion entitled "Redrawing Texas: Who Chooses Whom?" on Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m., hosted by Baylor University’s W.R. Poage Legislative Library and the Institute for oral history. Baylor Law Veterans Clinic Offers Free Estate Planning for Veterans and Their Spouses as Part of 2021 Veterans Day Commemoration

To honor local veterans, Baylor Law students offered, for the 10th consecutive year, free estate planning for veterans and their spouses as part of Baylor Law's Veterans Day commemorations. Veterans were able to obtain wills, powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney, declarations of guardian, and directives to physician documents drafted free of charge. . . Full Story

D. Bradley Hutchison, JD ’69, was bestowed the 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award by Paris Junior College. Brad was recognized for spending his career supporting the community of Paris through his law practice and his service to numerous local organizations and non-profits.
Larry G. Holt, JD ’71, was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott as a member to the Texas Public Finance Authority. Larry recently completed two terms as commissioner to the Texas Library and Archives Commission. He is in private practice in Bryan, Texas.
Todd Boykin, JD ’90, of Amarillo, has been reappointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to the Red River Authority of Texas Board of Directors.
Brad A. Allen, JD ’96, is returning as a partner to Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom LLP after thirteen years at USAA. For the past eight years, Brad managed USAA’s Texas Staff Counsel Operations. He previously was part of USAA’s team that managed a national docket of extra-contractual litigation involving property, auto, and class action cases. Brad is joining MDJW’s San Antonio office, focusing on South Texas and Hill County litigation involving first- and third-party disputes. Brad brings an in-house perspective to creating strategies, building teams, and leading trial lawyers to proactively manage litigation dockets, trying cases, and managing risk for corporations. Brad is glad to be back home with the firm where he first made partner many years ago.
Charles Myers, JD ’98, of Ward & Myers LLP, in Midland, was named a Texas Monthly Super Lawyer for 2021 in the area of Family Law. He was also voted Best Divorce Lawyer in Midland for 2021.
Matthew Matheny, JD ’03, has been made an equity partner with Provost Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont, Texas.
Brian Shaw, JD ’06, has joined Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, LLP in Dallas as partner. His business litigation work earned recognition in the 2021 Texas Super Lawyers legal guide.
Angela Buchanan, JD ’09, joined Phillips Murrah in Dallas as an of counsel attorney. Angela is a litigation attorney whose primary focus is complex commercial litigation and disputes.
Dean J. Roggia, JD ’09, has been appointed City Attorney of Laredo, Texas.
Cassie Hoyer, JD ’10, will serve as Chief of Staff for State House District 10 Representative-Elect Brian Harrison.
Stuart White, JD ’10, has joined Liles White PLLC in Corpus Christi/Santa Fe. He is board certified in Truck Accident Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.
Jessica L. Dunne, JD ’11, with Farrow-Gillespie Heath Witter LLP in Dallas, has been named to Best Lawyers 2022 “Ones to Watch” list for Trusts and Estates and Trusts and Estates Litigation. She was also named to the list of 2021 Texas Super Lawyer “Rising Stars,” as well as D Magazine’s list of 2021 Best Lawyers under 40. Jessica practices in the areas of probate, guardianship, and fiduciary litigation and administrations, with a special interest in adoptions.
Logan Adcock, JD ’14, has joined Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr. His practice focuses on construction law, including construction-related transactions and litigation matters.
Shay P. Talbitzer, JD ’14, joined Fraser Stryker PC LLO in Omaha, Nebraska, as an associate attorney to their commercial litigation, products liability, and professional negligence practice areas.
J. Travis Underwood, JD ’16, has joined Gillam & Smith LLP in Tyler focusing on patent and personal injury cases in Texas federal and state courts.
M. Spencer Turner, JD ’16, with Farrow-Gillespie Heath Witter LLP in Dallas, has been named to Best Lawyers 2022 “Ones to Watch” list for Trusts and Estates and Trusts and Estates Litigation. He practices in the areas of estate planning, probate, guardianship, and fiduciary litigation and administrations.
