Baylor Law Mourns Passing of Retired Long-Time Staff Member
Monica Susan Wright passed away on November 8, 2020. Monica was born in Waco, Texas, on October 7, 1961. She began her service at Baylor Law in April of 1997 as the administrative associate for Professor David M. Guinn. She then served as an administrative assistant for Baylor University's Personnel Services department. Monica returned to Baylor Law in 2001, serving as the Office Manager for Baylor Law's Career Development Office until her retirement in 2016. In 2010, she received Baylor University's Outstanding Staff Award. Monica served on the Baylor Staff Council from 1997-1999 and was a member of the Bear Foundation beginning in 2004. She was a season-ticket holder for football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball. She was recognized in 2010 as Lady Bear Basketball Season Ticket Holder of the Week. As a devoted wife, mother, and friend, spending time with her family and friends brought Monica much joy. . . Full Obituary

Angela Tekell, JD '89, was recently re-elected as the Board President of the Waco ISD Board of Trustees. She was elected to the Board in May 2010 and first elected as the Board President in May 2019.
Jonathan J. Bates, JD '93, with Kinser and Bates, LLP in Dallas, was named co-recipient of the Fellow of the Year Award for 2020 by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Jonathan is the Treasurer for AAML national, 2020 CLE Chair and Secretary for the Texas Chapter of AAML. He also serves as Chair-Elect of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
David Clouston, JD '93, of Sessions Fishman Nathan & Israel in Dallas, was recognized for the 12th consecutive time on the annual Texas Super Lawyers list and for the 5th consecutive time on the yearly list of the Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine. David is consistently called on for his expertise in securities law matters, commercial litigation and employment disputes.

Josh Borderud, JD '09, was recently elected to the Waco City Council. Josh is the Director of Clinical Programs at Baylor Law. He is the supervising attorney for Baylor Law's Veterans Clinic, Trial Advocacy Clinic, and Estate Planning Clinic.
Catherine Bird, JD '10, has been nominated by President Donald J. Trump to be General Counsel for a term of five years at the Federal Labor Relations Authority. She is currently the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration (ASA) at the Department of Health and Human Services.
Dillon Meek, JD '10, was sworn in as Mayor of Waco on November 17. He follows another Baylor Lawyer in service to the community, Kyle Deaver, JD '93. Dillon served on the Waco City Council from 2015-2020 and serves as the general counsel for First Title Company in Waco.
Cody W. Stafford, JD '10, with Dobrowski, Larkin & Stafford LLP, has been elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation.
Abby Lee, JD '11, is the new Deputy General Counsel of the Texas Real Estate Commission.
