Lewis Sifford received the Texas Trial Legend Award from the Dallas Bar Association.

Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater, JD '76

Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater was recognized with the 2018 American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the Fifth Circuit.

Ruben G. Reyes, JD '90

Ruben G. Reyes was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for a six-year term.

Kevin Haney, JD '92

Kevin Haney joined McGinnis Lochridge as partner in the Austin office. He will represent clients in the firm's electric energy practice. He will also represent clients in the real estate and corporate and business transactions practice areas out of the firm's new Decatur office.

Andy Payne, JD '94

Andy Payne of PayneMitchell Law Group, was named a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine. He has been recognized as a Best Lawyer in Dallas since 2008.

Elizabeth Carol Freeman, JD '97

Elizabeth Carol Freeman joined the Houston office of Jackson Walker LLP as a partner in the bankruptcy practice group. She previously served as permanent law clerk to the chief bankruptcy judge for the Southern District of Texas. Freeman is board certified in business bankruptcy law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Butch Hulse, JD '99

Butch Hulse joined the Commercial Litigation Practice Group at Dykema in San Antonio. Hulse served for nearly a decade as in-house counsel and later chief compliance officer with Acelity (formerly Kinetic Concepts, Inc.). He is a former shareholder with Cox Smith Matthews.

Derek Cook, JD '11

Derek Cook of Lynch Chappell & Alsup in Midland, was elected as a State Bar of Texas Director for District 16. He also was nominated as a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

James Ray, JD '11

James Ray was promoted to shareholder at Munsch Hardt in Austin. Ray is a member of both the environmental litigation and intellectual property litigation practices.

Stephen Rispoli, JD '12

Stephen Rispoli, assistant dean of student affairs and pro bono programs at Baylor Law, was elected president of the Waco-McLennan County Young Lawyers Association. Rispoli developed and actively administers the young lawyers' annual Pro Bono Challenge, the first local pro bono bar programming in recent history. The Challenge has garnered statewide awards from the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and the Texas Access to Justice Commission, and local awards from Lone Star Legal Aid.

Andrea M. Palmer joined Higginbotham in Forth Worth as a senior risk management analyst.

Travis L. Johnson, JD '14
