Baylor Law Family Shares Christmas Joy with Local Elementary School Children
Baylor Law's Waco ISD Adopt-A-School, Bell's Hill Elementary, is an inner-city school where almost 100% of the children qualify for free or reduced lunch. For the sixth consecutive year, the Student Bar Association (SBA) partnered with Valley Mills H-E-B Plus! to raise money for new Christmas gifts for approximately 900 children. This year SBA hosted a faculty auction where students bid on exciting auction items donated by faculty such as dinner at faculty members' homes, dog walking and dinner with the dean, and more.
For many years, the Law School also has hosted the Bell's Hill Christmas Choir for a luncheon at the Law School. The Bell's Hill choir serenades the Baylor Law family, and following their performance, the Law School provides the children with a holiday feast. The annual Christmas performance exposes many students to Baylor's campus, and provides the students with a warm, filling meal. Hopefully, at least one of these sweet students will become a Baylor Bear!
A special thank you to Meredith Meyer, who serves as Baylor Law's special events coordinator, office manager, and assistant to the associate dean, and the faculty, SBA officers, and law students who graciously shared their time and resources to deliver Christmas joy to children in need.
