Tailgating and Watch Party for the Baylor vs. OU game
Tailgate begins at 3:30 p.m. (5:30 kick-off), Baylor Law School
Join Dean Brad Toben, Dean Leah Teague, faculty, and fellow Baylor Lawyers on the back lawn of the Sheila and Walter Umphrey Law Center for Burgers and Blue Bell and tailgating.

Want to stay at the Law School and watch the game? Join us under the tent or inside the air-conditioned Student Lounge for a watch party. The Baylor vs. OU game, as well as other games, will be televised. Snacks will be provided.


Parking at Morrison Hall on game day available to registered guests. Your registration and payment must be received by September 15 to receive a parking spot.

Baylor Law's Legal Mapmaker Program Helps Young Lawyers Open Cost-Conscious Firms

Baylor Law School founded its Legal Mapmaker program in 2016 on two primary goals: 1) help young lawyers launch successful and efficient law practices and 2) address the growing "access to justice" gap affecting more than 100 million Americans. Baylor Law hosted the annual Academy of the Advocate in St Andrews July 29-August 12. Students from Baylor Law and other law schools with top advocacy programs across the country joined the impressive roster of distinguished faculty for an intense, yet fun, two-week advocacy-focused summer abroad program.

John L. "Lin" McCraw, JD '91, of the McCraw Law Group in McKinney, Texas, is the current president of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA). McCraw previously served as legislative vice president of the TTLA.
Bryan O. Blevins Jr., JD '90, of Provost Umphrey Law Firm, LLP in Beaumont, was selected to Texas Super Lawyers list by Thomson Reuters for the 15th year. He also was recently interviewed for Law360's Plaintiff's Bar Perspective. Blevins also served as president of the TTLA in 2015.
Glenn W. Cunningham, JD '90, of the Law Offices of Glenn W. Cunningham in San Antonio, Texas, is the current president-elect of the TTLA. He was elected to serve as president of TTLA for 2018.
Bruce Oakley, JD '89, managing partner of the Houston office of Hogan Lovells, has been elected as The Americas representative on the firm's board.
Richard E. Stanley, Jr., JD '99, of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP in Indianapolis, Indiana, was elected to the firm's partnership. Stanley is a member of Taft's Intellectual Property and Litigation groups and focuses on patent prosecution and litigation in the mechanical and electrical arts.
Matthew Matheny, JD '03, of Provost Umphrey Law Firm, LLP in Beaumont, was selected to the 2017 Texas Super Lawyers list by Thomson Reuters.
Leslie L. Hunt, JD '04, shareholder at Decker Jones PC, was elected to serve as the vice-president of membership for the Junior League of Fort Worth. In this capacity, she will serve on the Junior League's Board of Directors. Hunt also was selected as a "Top Attorney" in two categories (Business Law and Wills, Estates & Probate Law) by 360 West Magazine.
Tom Jacob, JD '09, was promoted to partner at Whitehurst, Harkness, Brees, Cheng, Alsaffar, Higginbotham & Jacob, PLLC in Austin.
Ronnie Turner Jr., JD '10, of Provost Umphrey Law Firm, LLP in Beaumont, had a 2016 premises liability verdict named to the Top 100 Texas Verdicts 2016. Turner's verdict was ranked #80 overall and #5 for premises liability. Turner also was named a 2017 Texas Rising Star, and he was named to the Up & Coming 100 list by Thomson Reuters.
Lauren Renee Sepulveda, JD '11, assistant criminal district attorney for Hidalgo County, Texas, was elected to serve as Texas Young Lawyers Association Director for District 13. She also received the 2017 Rising Advocate in Government Law Award from the Government Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
Ryan Luna, JD '16, an associate with the Carlson Law Firm in Waco is serving as Mission Waco's volunteer legal assistance coordinator. Beyond his own legal work, he will serve in this role to support Mission Waco's effort to serve the poor and marginalized who cannot afford and need legal assistance to help them overcome barriers to employment, housing, and personal dilemmas that impede their lives.
Taylor Thompson, JD '16, joined Provost Umphrey Law Firm, LLP in Beaumont as an associate.
