Baylor Law Hosts Viewpoints™ Panel in Washington, D.C. on Patent Litigation
On April 7, Baylor Law hosted the third edition of Viewpoints™: A Conversation Series. Held in Washington, D.C., the discussion focused on issues and trends of patent litigation. The half-day program included three distinctive panels of distinguished judges and lawyers. Dean Brad Toben welcomed guests, and Jim Brookshire, executive director of the Federal Circuit Bar Association, provided the introduction. Full Story
Baylor Law Recognizes Student Achievements at the 2017 John William & Florence Dean Minton Student Awards Ceremony and Lecture Series
On March 29, Baylor Law honored and recognized the outstanding achievements of current Baylor Law students in academics, advocacy, law review, and pro bono and public service at the 2017 John William & Florence Dean Minton Student Awards Ceremony and Lecture Series. A special thank you to Anthony Bruster, JD '02, of Bruster, PLLC, who provided a compelling keynote address and to the Baylor Lawyers and friends who funded the awards.

Baylor Lawyers Represent 30 Percent of LeadershipSBOT Class

In the 2016-2017 LeadershipSBOT class, six of the twenty young attorneys are Baylor Lawyers. In 2008, Former State Bar President Harper Estes, JD '79, created LeadershipSBOT in order to increase diverse leadership participation within the legal community and the Bar.
Baylor Law Places Second and Wins Best Draft Term Sheet at the National Startup LawMeet Competition
Baylor Law students Ian Todd and David Eskew and Baylor student Ashley Hodge placed second overall and won Best Draft Term Sheet at the National StartUp LawMeet competition. The team featured a unique collaboration between Baylor Law and Baylor's MBA program. Todd and Eskew are both enrolled in Baylor Law's joint MBA/JD degree plan and teammate Hodge is enrolled in Baylor's MBA program. The team was coached by David Reid, executive director of the Baylor Angel Network at Baylor's Hankamer School of Business. Full Story

Baylor Law's Stephen Rispoli Wins the 2017 Outstanding Young Lawyer of McLennan County Award
Stephen Rispoli, BA '09, JD '12, assistant dean of student affairs and pro bono programs at Baylor Law was named the Outstanding Young Lawyer of McLennan County for 2017. Rispoli proposed and developed the annual McLennan County Young Lawyer Association Pro Bono Challenge which has led to a resurgence in pro bono activity among the McLennan County Bar. He serves on national and state pro bono committees and is a member of the Waco Zoning Board of Adjustment. Full Story

Michael Bourland, JD '99, of Witt, McGregor & Bourland, P.L.L.C., and Marcy Wilkins, JD '14, of Waco law firm Beard Kultgen Brophy Bostwick & Dickson, LLP, were named 2016 Outstanding Pro Bono Advocate Award winners by the Waco-McLennan County Young Lawyers Association (WMCYLA).
