Tuition
Tuition and fees will be charged on a credit-hour basis, and the tuition rate will be based on 2022-23 Baylor Law tuition rates. Current tuition rates are $1,471 per quarter hour. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive 3 semester or 5 quarter hours of credit. Thus, the total tuition cost for students (at current rates) will be $7,355. In addition, there will be a program fee of $2,250. Tuition and the program fee will include all required course materials, insurance (see below) admission fees to program-sponsored field trips, transportation to and from program-sponsored field trips, as well as the food provided at the opening and closing receptions and lunches held as part of Academy-related meetings (e.g., breakout sessions).
Housing
Students will live at David Russell Apartments. David Russell Apartments accommodations include a private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom for each student for 16 nights, for a total cost of $2,000. This price also includes breakfast every morning for the students in the common areas. Students should plan to arrive on Saturday, July 22, 2023, and check out on Monday, August 7, 2023.
Airfare/Transfer
Based on Baylor Law's current estimates, a flight from Dallas, Texas (DFW airport) to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI airport) will cost around $1,800.
Insurance
Baylor requires all students participating in international study programs to purchase a medical insurance policy to supplement any existing personal health coverage. This is due to contingencies that could arise in a foreign country that necessitate extraordinary costs outside the scope of a typical policy. This insurance cost is included in your program fee and will be purchased by Baylor.
Other Meals/Incidentals
Based on Baylor Law's current estimates, students will need approximately $30 per day, at current exchange rates, for lunch, dinner, and any incidentals. This will total approximately $480 for the 16-day program.

Deadlines

Deposit: April 1, 2023
Deposit is the $2,250 program fee. In the event of a student's decision to withdraw after the deposit/program fee deadline, the program fee is non-refundable except in the case of serious illness or death in the immediate family.
Financial Aid: April 1, 2023
If you need financial aid, you must talk to Jenny Branson (Baylor students) or notify Stephen Rispoli (non-Baylor students) by this date.
Full Tuition:
- Baylor Law students: May 5, 2023.
- Non-Baylor students: June 16, 2023.
Non-Baylor Students Only - Letter of Good Standing: June 16, 2023.
The first class session is a mandatory online pre-departure orientation session, and it will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 7:00 p.m. CST. Students registered for the Academy will be sent information about how to access the mandatory online pre-departure orientation session.
Non-Baylor Students - Letter of Good Standing
By submitting this application, you are attesting that you are in good academic standing at your home law school. If admitted, you must submit a letter of good standing from your home law school. The letter should confirm that you are eligible to register for classes at your home law school and that your home law school will accept any transfer credits earned at Baylor Law's Academy of the Advocate program. This letter must be received by Stephen Rispoli by June 16, 2023.
Baylor Law will rely upon your attestation of good standing by submission of your application and the letter of good standing received from your home law school. If your academic status changes prior to the start date of the program so that you are no longer in good standing, you must inform us as soon as possible and provide a letter from your home law school verifying the change. If we receive notice of the change in writing from your home law school prior to the start of the program, we will refund any funds you have already paid minus any expenses incurred by Baylor Law in anticipation of your attendance in the program. If we are notified of the change after the start date of the program, we will not refund any funds already paid to Baylor Law.
When requesting this letter of good standing from your home law school, be sure to get written confirmation that your home law school will accept credits earned at the Academy of the Advocate. Assuming that your home law school will accept the credits, we recommend that you also ask if the credits will transfer back to your home law school as letter grades or on a pass/fail basis.
