Baylor Law Student, Gracie Wood, Honored as “Law Student of the Year” by National Jurist Magazine Mar. 6, 2018 Baylor Law’s Gracie Wood has been named one of The National Jurist magazine’s “Law Students of the Year.” The designation recognizes Wood and 20 other law students from across the country who excel in leadership, focus, and commitment to justice. Baylor Law Student, Shaina Hayes, Receives Community Meritorious Service Award from Baylor University Police Department Mar. 6, 2018 On Friday, March 2nd, Baylor Police Department Chief, Brad Wigtil surprised student Shaina Hayes, 3L, with a Community Meritorious Service Award following a four-month internship with the department where she worked in partnership with human resources, general counsel and the department’s Accreditation Board, the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, to completely revamp the department’s Policy and Procedures manual. Baylor Lawyer, Lewis R. Sifford, Receives American Board of Trial Advocates Lifetime Achievement Award Mar. 5, 2018 Dallas attorney Lewis R. Sifford, J.D. ’72, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) at the organization’s Board of Directors meeting in San Francisco in January. It’s the highest honor bestowed by the association, and has been awarded only nine times in the organization’s 65-year history. Baylor Law Teams Excel at Multiple Competitions Feb. 28, 2018 Baylor Law students score several strong showings in competitions held February 23-25: National Champions at at the 2018 Pace National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition; runners-up in two separate regional Transactional LawMeets; third place and best speaker at the Elliott Cup Regional Moot Court competition.
