Griner sets blocks mark, No. 2 Baylor wins big

WACO (AP) -- Brittney Griner scored 27 points and became Baylor's career blocks leader as the second-ranked Lady Bears overwhelmed Texas Southern 100-43 on Tuesday night.

Griner had three blocks, the first less than a minute in the game matching Danielle Wilson's school record of 249 set in 92 games over three seasons. Griner now has 251 blocks in 41 games for the Lady Bears (5-1).

Playing only 20 minutes, the equivalent of one half, Griner made 10 of 14 field goals and all seven of her free throws while grabbing seven rebounds. It was her second consecutive game with at least 27 points.

Jasmine Cannon had 10 points for Texas Southern (0-3).

Melissa Jones added 14 points for Baylor and Odyssey Sims had 11.
