NY professor to speak at lecture

Jewish philosopher Dr. Jay Bernstein, a University Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at New School University in New York, will deliver the Gillian Rose Lecture on Jewish and Continental Philosophy at 3:30 p.m. today in the White Beckham Room of the Bill Daniel Student Center.

Bernstein's presentation titled 'After Auschwitz: Adorno's New Categorical Imperative' focuses on a Jewish philosopher's understanding of the Holocaust.

Bernstein received his doctorate at the University of Edinburgh and taught at the University of Essex before joining New School University.

This lecture, sponsored by the Center for American and Jewish Studies, is free and open to the public.

Kappa Alpha Psi hosts pageant

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity will host the 2nd annual Miss Kappa Diamond Pageant 7 p.m. Saturday in Waco Hall. Eleven Baylor women will participate in four events: interview, question-and-answer, a talent exhibition, and an evening gown show. Tickets cost $5 at the door or at the Baylor ticket office in the Bill Daniel Student Center.
