A story in the Waco Tribune-Herald reported Saturday that heading into the Kansas State game, attendance at Baylor home football games was the lowest in the Big 12.

The attendance Saturday was 38,217 when the Bears faced the then No. 2-ranked team in the nation, improving the average and posting the second highest attendance figure this season at Floyd Casey Stadium.

Without a doubt, this is an overall statistic of which Baylor fans shouldn't be proud. But Baylor fans have one more chance to do something about that trend this weekend in one of the university's best sports weekends in a while.

The football team hosts the University of Oklahoma at 1 p.m. Saturday; the soccer team hosts an NCAA tournament game against Northwestern University at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Baylor Soccer Field; and the women's basketball team faces Northeastern Louisiana in the Preseason National Invitational Tournament at 7 p.m. Friday at the Ferrell Special Events Center.

Make plans now to support Baylor athletics at one of these events. Even if football isn't your sport, NCAA national tournament competition in the form of Baylor soccer should spark your interest. The exposure of a national tournament speaks volumes to the nation about the university and its students.
