Get face-to-face with apes and stars on weekend road-trip to Ft. Worth

Nov. 6, 1998

'On the road again....Just can't wait to get on the road again.' Wee doggies, it's the weekend everybody and time to hit the road. This weekend we are going to the metropolitan area of Fort Worth, Tejas.

In Fort Worth, you can check out the extra hairy World of Primates exhibit at the Ft. Worth Zoo and come face-to-face with apes and monkeys. The zoo opens daily at 10 a.m. and is $7 for adults.

Next you can mosey on over to The Palace of Wax and Ripley's Believe It or Not! in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. In the wax o' palace, look for a wax look alike of Brad Pitt from 'Legends of the Fall' and Jesus. In Ripley's, check out a shrunken head and a woman with a 15-inch long neck. Take I-30 @ Belt Line and exit north to get to these attractions.

Finally on your way back to Waco, stop at the Ft. Worth Stockyards. Here you can hang out at the Cowtown Coliseum for a rodeo or wild west show, learn about the old west by strolling through the stockyards museum or simply grab some barbecue and shop.

To finish off the perfect Texas road trip, two-step and line-dance the night away at the world's largest honkey tonk, Billy Bob's Texas.
