Bumper's brings pool to downtown

Bumper's brings something different to downtown Waco.

The atmosphere of pool tables and dart lanes gives people a taste of more than just a restaurant.

Bumper's joined the growing downtown restaurant district two weeks ago and has already started plans to add a restaurant.

'If things go as planned then the restaurant should be finished in 2 to 6 weeks,' manager Lupe Rocio said. Until then patrons can get a variety of drinks with free hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and pretzels.

Chip Parrish, a San Antonio junior and catcher for Baylor's baseball team , stayed in town during spring break for games and practices and spent just as much time playing pool because ' it was a good place to go and kill time.'

Parrish was not the only student to experience Bumper's. Before spring break, Karen Taft, a Bonners Ferry, Idaho, sophomore, talked to friends who spent more time waiting to get in then playing pool because 'anything new to Waco is going to bring a huge crowd.'

Bumper's is open from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
