Lacrosse team wins
The Baylor men's club lacrosse team won its first game of the season this past Sunday in Sherman.
In the 20-0 thrashing of Austin College, goalie Rob Fink, an Abilene senior, captured his first career shutout.
'Rob had a great individual effort,' teammate J.D. Hill, a Phoenix senior, said.
The Bears were led by attack man Carson Jones, a San Francisco senior, who had four goals with four assists on the day.
The men will resume play on Feb. 8. The Bears will take on the University of Texas at home.
Rugby team loses
to Sam Houston
The Baylor men's rugby team lost to the Sam Houston State Bearcats 19-7 in Huntsville on Saturday. The loss takes the Bears to 2-4 on the season thus far.
Bobby Mabry, the Bears inside center, scored the only points for the squad. The Bears head into tournament action in Baton Rouge, La., Feb. 8 -9 . The Bears are the defending champions of the tournament.
Baseball teams hold open tryouts
Tryouts start Saturday for those interested in playing baseball. The Waco White Sox and Waco Baseball Association, both members of the American Amatuer Baseball Congress, are looking for players for the spring season. Those interested may call Robert Sanchez at 754-1994 for more information.
