Sunday School Board interviews for staff

A representative from the Baptist Sunday School Board will interview Baylor students for staff positions at Centrifuge, a camp for high school students, during the summer of 1997. The representative will conduct interviews from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday at the Bobo Baptist Student Center. Students must be 21 by June 1, 1997, in order to apply. Students can pick up applications and schedule an interview time at the Bobo Baptist Student Center now.

Professor to sign new book at bookstore

Dr. Randall O'Brien, associate professor of religion, will be available to sign copies of his new book I Feel Better All Over Than I Do Anywhere Else...and Other Stories to Tickle Your Soul from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Baylor Bookstore.

Accounting Department receives endowment

Paul J. and Jane Meyer of Waco gave a $100,000 endowed scholarship to the Hankamer School of Business Accounting Department. The scholarship will benefit students who are accounting majors and is based on financial need.

The Dr. Delton L. Chesser Passport To Success (PTS) Accounting Scholarship is given in honor of Chesser.

Chesser, the Roderick L. Holmes Professor of Accounting, is a 14-year member of the Baylor faculty as well as a 1996 Mortar Board Circle of Achievement honoree, and the 1996 Distinguished Professor of the business school.

PTS, founded by Meyer in 1988, is a non-profit civic foundation that endorses the belief that any significant progress in solving the basic problems of society must originate in the private sector.

Preacher to speak at Chapel-Forum

Barbara Brown, named by Baylor as one of the 12 most effective preachers in the English-speaking world, will speak during Chapel-Forum at 10am on Sept. 18 at and at Jones Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building at 7 p.m. The public is invited to the later presentation.

Brown serves as rector of Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarksville, Ga. She has also served as assistant and associate rector at All Saints' Church in Atlanta, clinical chaplain at Georgia Baptist Medical Center and held administrative positions with Yale Divinity School and Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Brown's credentials and reputation made her a natural selection for the Effective Preachers Program said Rev. Milton Cunningham, director of Denominational Ministries.

Speakers also honored by Baylor for their contributions were Rev. Billy Graham and Dr. Charles Swindoll.

Office of Academic Advisement available to make appointments in student center

Students with less than 30 hours of credit can make appointments for academic advisement in the Bill Daniel Student Center.

Representatives from the Office of Academic Advisement will make appointments in the student center from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 16 through 19. And 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 20.

After these dates, students can call the academic advisement office to make appointments.
