Long-headed Coneflower/Mexican Hat - Ratibida columnaris

  • Leaves: 2-4 1/2 inches long, deeply cut into 5-9 narrow segments. Upper third of the stem is bare.
  • Flowers: 1 floweer head to a stem, with ray flowers 3/4 - 1 inch long, yellow-orange, often deep reddish-orange at the base, and velvety. Sometimes they are entirely yellow and in other cases only the tips are yellow.
  • Center: Erec, conelike, 1-2 inches long, grey-green, tuns bown as it matures.
