Electronic Grade Submission Using Blackboard

During the Fall 2005 semester, the Electronic Library’s software development staff, in conjunction with ITS, implemented a custom-written piece of software to allow professors to submit final grades from within the Blackboard application. Almost 200 sections were submitted via this process last semester and more are expected to use it this spring when paper grade rolls will no longer be an option.

While faculty members can submit grades using BearWeb, the new Blackboard module allows certain advantages. The main advantage is that graduate assistants can enter grades on behalf of the faculty member using their own Blackboard account, which alleviates security concerns associated with sharing access to critical systems such as BearWeb.
