New Procedure for Automated Scheduled Backups

After careful consideration of all options, due to the limited resource capacity of the Tivoli backup system, it is necessary to implement a new procedure to the automated schedule for desktop/laptop backups.

Effective February 13, 2006, ITS will move to a three-day automated backup schedule for all departmental desktops/laptops. Backups will be performed on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be no automated backups on Monday and Tuesday. Please note that the manual backup and restore processes will continue to be available daily from Monday through Friday, except from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM for normal maintenance.

To request manual backups and restores, you need to use the Tivoli Backup Monitor application. This application can be downloaded from AppCenter.
