UPDATE: Some Campus Telephone Systems Still Experiencing Issues

September 20, 2021

Baylor ITS and external partners have been working through the weekend to restore phone service to many parts of campus, as communicated late Friday. Voicemail has been restored for individuals and offices with a Nortel phone, but users may continue to experience intermittent issues. Baylor ITS technicians are actively working with individuals in the following areas to restore their telephone service:

  • 801 Washington Building
  • Piper Center
  • Baylor Press

Due to the nature of the University’s aging telephone infrastructure, Baylor ITS is accelerating the transition of all of Baylor’s telephone services to the Microsoft Teams Calls platform. Teams Calls offers features you would expect from standard phone service with the convenience of being able to receive and make calls on a laptop, desktop, or mobile device. You can learn more about Teams Calls at baylor.edu/helpdesk/teamscalls. Baylor ITS will begin this transition immediately due to the critical nature of the current outage and will provide instructions and training as individuals and departments make the transition to Teams Calls.

If you are experiencing issues with your Baylor telephone service or voicemail, please visit HelpDesk+ in person on the garden level of Moody Memorial Library, call (254) 710-4357, email helpdesk@baylor.edu, or create a ticket at helpdesk.baylor.edu.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work quickly to resolve this unexpected equipment failure and transition the University to the latest technology.
