Teams is a virtual communications platform that empowers people to work together remotely. Baylor faculty, staff, and students can create Teams to chat, meet, call and collaborate - all in one place. The Teams app is available for Windows, Mac, mobile devices, and on the web. You can download Teams for all platforms at portal.office.com.

Microsoft Teams

1. What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that is included in the Microsoft Office Suite. This video provides a good overview of Teams and how it works.

This video demonstrates using Teams for chat and direct voice and video calls. Note, Baylor is not currently setup to call outside of the organization through Teams, however, you can voice or video call any other Baylor employee through Teams.

5. How do I schedule a meeting with colleagues through Teams?
Teams is a great platform for meeting with colleagues who may not be in the same location. The easiest way to schedule a Teams meeting is through Outlook. Using Outlook, create a meeting, select the date and time, and invite attendees. Before sending the meeting invitation, click the Teams Meeting button at the top. The meeting will automatically include the Teams Meeting connection information.

7. How can I share live video in a Teams meeting if my computer doesn't have a webcam?

  • Join a meeting in Teams on your computer.
  • Open the Teams app on your smartphone/tablet.
  • Tap "Join" in the top banner.
This will allow you to use your phone/tablet as a companion device in the meeting and share live video and other content.
