Technology for Online Students

As a student pursuing an online degree from Baylor University, you have access to several services and software packages. Explore the links below to learn more about the technology services available to you.

Your BearID
Your BearID, usually in the form of Firstname_Lastname1 (or some number to ensure a unique username), is used to access electronic resources such as your Baylor email, Canvas, Box, and many other systems. Resetting Your Password
There are a couple of ways to reset your password - either by answering security questions or having the system send you a Reset Code. The Reset Code will only work if your cell phone number is listed in our Identity Management System. To make sure, or to change your cell phone number, use the instructions for Managing your Profile.

Baylor Email
Your Baylor email address is in the form of your BearID with "", i.e. You can access your Baylor email from any web browser at You can also use an Exchange client such as Outlook or to access your email. For more information about your Baylor email account, click here.

Duo Two-Factor Authentication
In response to the increase in cyberattacks, Baylor uses two-factor protection for most of our single sign-on services. This additional layer of protection provides insurance against threats to faculty, staff, and student personal information, sensitive research data, and other university information and resources stored within Box, Canvas, and on other online platforms. Canvas is the Learning Management System used at Baylor. Canvas allows faculty to provide course information and content to students. Canvas is available on both Apple and Android devices. Support for Canvas is available 24/7 by calling 844-334-0228. To log into Canvas, visit

Microsoft Office 365 is available for all current Baylor faculty, staff and students. Use your Baylor email address and password to log in for this subscription. More information can be found here.

Box provides Baylor faculty, staff and students with 50GB of secure cloud storage. Box supports file sharing and collaboration opportunities, along with mobile access. For more information about Box, click here.

While HelpDesk+ caters to students on campus in Moody Memorial Library, the HelpDesk+ website contains a comprehensive collection of technology services available to all students. Although some of the services such as PawPrints (on-campus printing service) may not apply to online students, you may find resources that are helpful to you. HelpDesk+ can be found here.
