WACO, Texas (Oct. 24, 2017) – Baylor University will officially inaugurate Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., as the 15th president in Baylor’s 172-year history during a public installation ceremony at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Ferrell Center. The ceremony will highlight a week of events centered on the Baylor and Waco communities, including a traditional Dr Pepper Hour, a “Family Dinner” for students along Third Street near the president’s home and academic symposia on transformational research by leading University faculty.

The Stillwater (OK) News-Press applauds the hiring of Dr. Linda Livingstone as Baylor’s president, looking back at her history as an outstanding student-athlete at Perkins-Tryon High School and Oklahoma State University. Her late father, Doyle Parrack, was a successful basketball coach after playing for Henry Iba at Oklahoma A&M. He coached at Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma and his alma mater.

Livingstone, the dean at the George Washington University School of Business, was formally named Baylor University’s 15th president Tuesday. “Baylor holds such a unique and significant place in higher education,” Livingstone said in a media teleconference Tuesday afternoon. “To be a university that’s committed to high-quality scholarship, excellence in academics, while maintaining the commitment and engagement with its Christian mission and its Christian roots, is unusual and something that is very significant. It was an important factor in me making this decision to come back to Baylor.”

Livingstone, Ph.D., current dean and professor of management at The George Washington University School of Business, as the institution’s 15th president. Dr. Livingstone was the unanimous choice of the Baylor Board of Regents, following the recommendation of the 12-member Presidential Search Committee.
