EDUCATING FOR CONTENT AND CHARACTER

Educators at Christian institutions have a special mission: to teach the course content well and faithfully while at the same time cultivating in students virtues like wisdom, justice, courage, and charity, that might enable them to live with meaning and purpose according to their God-given vocation (or calling).

In this way, faith animates teaching and learning, giving life and direction to the entire process of seeking understanding.  It likewise involves both the transmission and discovery of content and the formation of moral and intellectual character

A NEW CHALLENGE

The present global health crisis and swift transition to online education compel educators to ask a new question: how might faith animate online teaching and learning? 

There is no simple answer to this question, and no detailed list of bullet-pointed strategies we can offer.

What we have provided here are some avenues for reflection and some practical guidance for those who hope to see their online teaching reflect a Christian imagination:
