Sarah Hamersma is Associate Professor of Public Administration and International Affairs at Syracuse University.  She was trained as an economist, obtaining her Ph.D. in Economics in 2004 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Her career has been focused on evaluating the effects of anti-poverty programs, and much of her recent research examines the implications of health and nutrition programs for health outcomes and labor supply.  Her interest in food assistance and the labor market has led her to new research on food insecurity and its consequences for educational investments.
