About Our Research

THI research currently has several focus areas including:

  • Hunger Free Communities Evaluation: THI is evaluating the implementation and progress of anti-hunger coalitions and analyzing the development and sustainable strategies utilized by those coalitions. We aim to offer insights and resources for groups interested in forming their own hunger-free communities.
  • School Breakfast Programs Research: THI’s research examines the effect of Breakfast in the Classroom on various student outcomes including nutrient intake, academic performance, and attendance.
  • Summer & Afterschool Meals Research: THI is evaluating access to and participation in summer and afterschool meals programs. We use data to target strategic outreach efforts and are researching how summer and afterschool meals providers can maximize their resources and increase program sustainability.
