One of students’ most beloved traditions, Community Dinner brings friends and faculty together to share in fine food and good discussion. The evening serves as a gathering of intentional community and features a keynote speaker.
One of the most treasured HRC traditions, Toasties features a delicious take on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, offered in both sweet and savory varieties. Students gather in the Alexander Reading Room to partake of this tasty HRC staple, socialize with friends, and listen to some awesome music.
Each year, the Honors Residential College hosts a beautiful garden party to honor the hard work of students throughout the year, and to celebrate the arrival of spring. Students gather in the Garden of Contentment to eat fine food, chat with friends, and celebrate the closing of the school year.
The Formation Series is an opportunity to discuss what it means to be formed as a whole person, in heart, soul, mind and strength - the fundamental commitment of our community. The Formation Series brings our community together around the love of learning in three engaging lectures each semester that are open to the Waco community.
Campus celebrates Halloween with Treat Night, an opportunity for faculty and staff to bring their children to the residence halls for trick-or-treating and festive fun. At the HRC, we transform the Alexander Reading Room into a Halloween carnival full of candy, games, and crafts. We love dressing up to welcome faculty and staff and their families into our home.
Dance the night away at Spring Formal! Students dress to the nines and close out the school year with an evening of fun, friends, and music.
Humans vs. Zombies
Each semester, HRC students must face the most rigorous of tests, prepared with their own cunning and creativity. Humans vs. Zombies is a three-day battle between those hardy human students and the forsaken zombies. This wildly popular game is a longstanding tradition of the HRC.
There’s no need to lift a finger during HRC move-in! Returning students and staff are there to carry new students’ belongings and guide them throughout the move-in process.
Tailgating and Watch Parties
Support your Baylor Bears with friends and good food! Stop by the HRC tailgate before home games for conversation and tasty barbeque. When the team is away, we watch the game on the large Reading Room screen with other HRC students.
Embrace your inner athlete with HRC intramurals! Compete against other teams in games such as flag football, ultimate frisbee, table tennis, basketball, canoeing, and more.
Each week, members of the HRC have the opportunity to get to know one another in a small group setting and explore Baylor and Waco. Groups of students have the opportunity to paddleboard at the Baylor marina, share a meal at Union Hall, carve pumpkins together in the fall, go to the Waco farmer’s market, and more!
Each semester, the game is afoot, as players try to deduce their assassin, while seeking out their target! Every participant is given a target to eliminate. Playing is a great way to get involved in the HRC and meet new people!
Dance After Dark
This is one of the HRC’s most exciting events, as HRCers dress in neon colors for a fun night of music and dancing the night away with friends.
