New Faculty Information

Welcome to Baylor University!


To begin your onboarding experience as a faculty member, please follow the steps below.

If you have taught for Baylor within the past year and completed Steps 1, 2, & 3 previously, then you may proceed to Step 4 & 5.

 

Step 1 - Complete Form I-9

(Employment Eligibility Verification)

All employees must complete Section 1 of the Form I-9 on or before their first day of employment. Additionally, you must provide required documents to Human Resources no later than the third day of employment. The Form I-9 is required by the U.S. government to verify eligibility to work in the U.S and protect from discrimination on the basis of national origin or citizenship status. Failure to complete the form and provide required documentation may render the employment offer null and void.

  • The Form I-9 is available online or in person in Human Resources, located in the 2nd floor in the Clifton Robinson Tower at 700 South University Parks Drive, Suite 200.
 

Step 2 - Prepare for Day 1

Print and complete your New Employee Paperwork Packet and bring it with you to submit on your first day.

In order to complete your paperwork packet, you will need your Baylor ID number. Your ID number is listed in the welcome email you received from Human Resources.

Step 3 - Complete Required Compliance Training

You have been granted access to BaylorCompass, Baylor’s Career Management Resource system and the venue for professional development opportunities and training: Instructions on how to use BaylorCompass.

You will be auto-enrolled into the university’s required compliance course: Intersections-Preventing Harassment, Discrimination, and Sexual Violence, which is due within 30 days.
To launch the course:

  • Be sure to turn off the pop-up blocker for the internet browser: Instructions to enable pop-up windows.
     
  • On the BaylorCompass Home tab in the My Tasks list, click the blue play button at the bottom of the course task tile to launch the course. Note: clicking the course title in the My Tasks list will not launch the course.
     
  • Online courses may be accessed multiple times. Once completed, be sure to click on Exit and choose Yes.
     
  • BaylorCompass will automatically record that you have completed the course.

If you are a part-time lecturer/adjunct instructor, you are set once you complete Steps 1, 2, & 3.
 

If you are a full-time faculty member, please proceed to Steps 4 & 5.
 

Step 4 - Register for & Attend Bear Essentials

To learn about the culture and benefits of Baylor and to submit your paperwork, please register for one of the scheduled Bear Essentials session: Register for a session.

 

Step 5 - Register for Benefits

An important part of your total compensation package at Baylor is your benefits package. Benefits offered at Baylor include medical insurance, dental plans, flexible spending accounts, retirement plan, tuition remission benefits and a wide-variety of other perks and services.

It is important to note that you have 30 days from your first day of employment to make your benefit elections.
