Judges

Judging at the Heart of Texas Regional History Fair is an excellent way to support community education. Most people hear "National History Day" and are unaware of the interdisciplinary nature of this competition. You do not have to be a historian to be involved! HOTRHF is looking for judges with interest/experience in a variety of fields in addition to history, such as English, film and digital media, mathematics, art history, communication, education, and more!

The dates of the event are February 14-15, 2019. All events are held at the Bill Daniel Student Center (1311 S. 5th Street) at Baylor University. Whatever your schedule is, we can work with it. 

To register, please follow the instructions listed below.

Orientation
HOTRHF asks that all judges, both new and experienced, attend judge orientation. This orientation will cover the judging process, the annual theme, and necessary rules.

Thursday, February 14, 2019
5:30-6:00pm (dinner provided)

Friday, February 16, 2019
7:30-8:00am (breakfast provided)
12:00-1:00pm (lunch provided)

Paper and website categories are pre-judged. Virtual orientation will be held at the time of the deadlines for those categories.

Judge Registration
Judges are asked to sign up for judging through the online registration system. To register:

  1. Click Create Account and choose Judge from the drop-down menu
  2. Fill in the information; click Next
  3. Fill in the personal information; click Save & Continue. (Please note your username and password.)
  4. Enter Judge’s Preferences and Conflict of Interest; click Next
    1. Please enter the time you are available. If you are available to judge both Thursday and Friday, please check the "I am available for judging the whole time" box. Otherwise, indicate when you are available to start and finish. If you have any special time considerations, please make note of them in the comment box.  
  5. Agree to Permissions and Waivers
  6. Logout
