Registration

December 1, 2019-January 22, 2020

Welcome to the Heart of Texas Regional History Fair Registration. The registration period for the 2020 HOTRHF will be December 1, 2019-January 22, 2020. Registration for the HOTRHF is through our online registration system. Late entries will not be accepted. Click here to register. 

Sponsors MUST register first before students are able to register. All students must register individually, including those in a group project.

Registration for Sponsors

All sponsors are required to create a new account, even if you registered for last year's fair. You are able to use the same username and password from last year's fair. Be sure to take note of your username and password. 

Students are only able to register once you have registered. Registration for students may be completed through sponsors' accounts; however, please make sure that you select the student option from the drop down Register menu.

To register:

  1. Click Create Account and choose Teacher from drop down menu
  2. Fill out First Name, Last Name, and Email Address
  3. Fill out Teacher's Personal Information
  4. Choose School ****If your school is NOT listed, please contact the HOTRHF office.
  5. Agree to Permission and Waivers
  6. Logout

Once registered, you will be able to manage all your registered students via the My Students tab. Sponsors can edit/view participant, link to a project, and unlink from a project. 

Registration for Students

Your sponsor MUST be registered before you can register. Please see the Special Registration Instructions for Group Projects, Documentaries, Papers, and Websites below for more information.

All students are required to create a new account, even if you registered for last year's fair. You are able to use the same username and password from last year's fair. Be sure to take note of your username and password. 

To register:

  1. Click Create Account and choose Student from drop down menu
  2. Fill out First Name, Last Name, and Email Address
  3. Select School, Teacher, and Grade ****Your teacher must be registered. 
  4. Select Create New Project or Link/Join Existing Team Project
  5. Fill out the title, catergory and project description. Additionally, you will be asked if the project is a team project and if you require an electrical outlet. This section requires a Project Description. Please write a short, but descriptive summary of your project. The project description will be used in the selection of special awards.
  6. Confirm information
  7. Agree to Permissions and Waviers ****A parent/guardian to agree to the authorizations and waivers.
    1. Check the box next to "I understand there is a registration fee of 6.00 for which I am responsible."
  8. Click I Agree
  9. Logout

Special Registration Instructions for Group Projects, Documentaries, Paper, and Websites

Group Projects
If you are the first member of the group project to register, please select Create New Project and select team project when prompted. You will be provided with a Team Key at the end of your registration. Please share this key with other members of your group as they will need it to register.

If another member of your group has already registered, select Link/Join Existing Team Project. You will need to provide the Team Key. The Team Key was provided to the first student that registered a group project.

Documentaries
Documentaries, along with accompanying process papers and annotated bibliographies, must be uploaded via the HOTRHF website by January 22, 2020 at 11:59 pm. To upload, click here. As a reminder, all entries must be viewable in VLC media player for Windows. Additionally, students must bring their documentary in a USB Flash Drive along with hard copies of their process papers and annotated bibliographies. The HOTRHF will provide the necessary equipment for viewing documentaries.

Papers
Papers can be uploaded in a PDF format during the registration process. You will be able to upload your paper after the registration process is completed. As a reminder, a PDF file of your paper must be uploaded to the online registration system by January 22, 2020. Papers are pre-judged.

Websites   
Websites must be completed in NHD WebCentral by January 22, 2020 at 11:59 pm. Students will lose access after this date. Each student must create an account, even in group websites. The 8-digit ID from your website URL is required and should be placed in the NHD WebCentral Site Key field when prompted during online registration. For example, http://site.nhd.org/12345678, 12345678 would be the NHD WebCentral Site Key. Putting this number in during the registration process will not affect your ability to access your website. Please visit NHD WebCentral Help Library for video guides, answers to frequently asked questions, or more information. Websites are pre-judged. 

If you registered and are unable to attend the fair
A substitution for that student is NOT allowed after the registration deadline. Unfortunately, the student will be dropped.

  • For individual entries, the entry will be dropped from the competition.
  • For group entries of three to five members, a member drop will still allow the group entry to continue without the withdrawing member.
  • For group entries of two members, a member drop will cause the other member to also be dropped and for the entry to be dropped from the competition.
  • After the registration deadline a group entry cannot changed to an individual entry, or vice versa.

Exceptions will be considered for medical reasons or family emergencies only!
