The Day of the Fair

Schedule
Once registration is closed, the schedule will be posted no later than two weeks prior to the fair. The schedule will also be emailed to sponsors. A sample schedule for HOTRHF is available to give you an idea of what to expect. All events are held at the Bill Daniel Student Center (1311 S. 5th Street) at the heart of the Baylor University campus.

Judging
The judging is done to the strict specifications of the National History Day judging criteria, as stated in the NHD Contest Rule Book. Please review the criteria carefully, along with these sample judging sheets. The breakdown of the evaluation is based on these percentages:

  • 60% historical quality
  • 20% clarity of presentation
  • 20% relation to theme

Awards Ceremony
The Awards Ceremony will conclude the HOTRHF and all winners will be announced. The Awards Ceremony be announced in the following format:

  • 5th grade participation award
  • Special Awards
  • Junior Division
  • Senior Division
  • Special HOTRHF Awards

Advancing
Entries that place either 1st or 2nd in their respective categories will advance to Texas History Day. Following the Award ceremony, advancing students and their sponsors will be given a packet of information specific to the next level of competition.
