Ada Margaret Smith Award

NOTE: This award is open to students in grades 6-12.

The Ada Margaret Smith Award is named in memory of a long-time Cameron teacher and historian because of her love for and commitment to students and history. This award is presented to the most promising young historian at HOTRHF. Each sponsor is allowed to nominate one student for this award. The student must be registered under the teacher to qualify.

To nominate a student, email the HOTRHF office with the following information by February 7, 2020:

  • Student’s name
  • Student’s project division and category
  • Student’s project title
  • A brief statement on why this student is a promising historian (1-2 paragraphs)

Nominations for the award will be screened by HOTRHF representatives. The top nominees will be invited to an interview during the Regional History Fair at Baylor on Friday, February 14, 2020. The students being interviewed will be notified by noon Thursday, February 13, 2020 of the time and place of the interview.

The award recipient will receive a plaque and a cash prize. The winner will be announced at the annual Heart of Texas Regional History Fair Awards Ceremony.
