Research Interests

My general area of study is in Late Medieval/Early Modern Europe. Specifically, I focus on the experiences of suffering, grief, and mourning within communities by giving particular attention to the lives and roles of women in this era. Previous work has focused on the writings of Late Medieval and Early Modern women and their understanding of personal and public suffering in light of their religious convictions, communities, and practices. Moving forward, I will study this theme by focusing on female participation in church and society and how the various realities of their contexts shaped and were shaped by their understanding of suffering and grief.
