The Master of Science (MS) program in Medical Science is a 100% online program designed to prepare graduates to pursue further academic training in medicine, dentistry, other professional health schools, or doctorates in research science by completing a rigorous combination of multidisciplinary courses. The MS Medical Science program is designed to elevate students’ credentials for professional program admissions.
Baylor University’s specialized master’s program (SMP) provides students a Christian community in which to grow academically and professionally while preparing for their next journey in the health profession field. With world-renowned faculty from a Carnegie tier-one research university, students will learn to apply their academic knowledge with an evidence-based approach to healthcare. Joining the Baylor family is an opportunity to experience a top academic environment within a dynamic Christian community.
According to Forbes, from 2002-2019, professional school applications increased by 6% while Medical School Applications increased by 18%. Forbes also notes an increase in applications for medical-based professional programs overall while the number of open seats in professional programs only grows approximately 3% annually nationwide. Also, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in the 2021-2022 academic year, only 35% of applicants to medical school programs enrolled into medical school. In Texas, the matriculation rates into medical school (25.1%) and dental school (24%) are even lower. Therefore, there is an increase in students who have missed the opportunity to start a medical or dental school program immediately following the completion of their undergraduate prerequisites.
Baylor’s MSMS addresses these statistics, giving students the tools and support they need to beat these odds and put them on the path to realizing their career aspirations while completing a master’s degree.
