If the thesis or research project option is not selected an internship or practicum experience must be selected by working closely with the HHPR graduate internship coordinator. MPH students must complete a practicum followed by an internship or thesis and should contact their academic advisor for more details. The primary purpose of the Internship/Practicum experience is to bridge the gap between the academic present and the professional future. The internship carries a maximum of six semester hours while the practicum carries a maximum of three semester hours. To enroll in this capstone experience, students must have maintained at least a “B” average, completed the HHPR core courses for all academic specializations (HP/PUBH 5379 or EDP 5335 and EDP 5334 or STA 5300) and completed at least 24 hours of graduate course work within the selected academic specialization.
