During the clinical education component of the ATP, students are assigned to a variety of sports, clinical instructors, clinical sites, and patient populations. In these experiences, students can apply, practice, and review the skills that they learned in their academic classes. Students admitted into the professional phase of the ATP are required to complete 12-20 clinical ed. hours/week (i.e., 200-300 clinical ed. hours/semester) for a minimum of 1300 hours over a three year period. A students' clinical learning experiences include sports practices, games, surgeries, a general medical rotation, and other off-campus rotations. Students are supervised by and learn from the assigned preceptors.
