Types of Sessions
When creating a Webex meeting, you will have to select a "Conferencing Account," which sets the meeting type. "Webex Meetings" is the standard meeting type which we recommend in almost all cases.
- If you need a to conduct a videoconference with all the basic features, choose Webex Meetings.
- If you intend to use Webex for a regular class or meeting, choose Webex Meetings.
- If you do not know what to choose, go with Webex Meetings.
If you think you may need to use one of the other Conferencing Account types, see below for more info on what each meeting type provides:
Webex Meetings (up to 1,000 participants, including 200 with video) - Webex Meetings is the traditional collaborative meeting solution designed to replicate a meeting room. It provides the ability to share applications or desktops and share video and voice for those attendees who have the capabilities to do so. Video conferencing systems can also connect to Webex Meetings rooms.
Webex Events (up to 1,000 participants) - Allows you to conduct webinars, all-hands meetings, project kick-offs, or press events online so that you can share documents and applications, and collaborate with others. Webex Events is intended to primarily provide unidirectional (Presenter to participants) voice, video, and data presentation. Attendees in webinars interact with the presenter through text chat or a Q&A panel. To effectively use this meeting type, it is recommended to have a designated moderator or that the host has additional training specifically for using this meeting type.
Webex Trainings (up to 1,000 participants) - Webex Trainings is designed for more advanced collaboration and functionality. Along with the ability to share applications or desktops and voice and video, it also provides the ability for participants to raise their hand to ask a question, participate in polls, and to break out into smaller groups. This meeting type requires the highest level of moderation on the host's part.
