Moody Library was generously offered a gift from the Shumacher Foundation and four office spaces to create digital media lab spaces for the Baylor community. Included are three recording studios, A/V equipment for reservation, and computers for editing and rendering.

Reading literacy and access to knowledge in the written word has long been a central goal for libraries. With the ascendency of digital literacy and the expense of access to the tools of this trade, libraries have increasingly begun providing media creation and exploration spaces.

Baylor University Libraries is pleased to join this trend.

Photo of the Makerspace

Moody Library hosts a maker space. Really, it's a 12' x 16' digital fabrication studio. We've got 3-D printers, a laser cutter/engraver, CNC router, vinyl cutter, soldering station, some hand tools, and a work table. More details on our equipment at our Make@BU blog. Visit during our open hours or sign up for a Makerspace workshop. New to 3-D printing and need us to make an object with you? Our 3-D printing fulfillment process invites you to begin your maker journey (principally for academic and research purposes).

For what we can't accomplish in the garden level of the library, we partner with the Maker's Edge in Waco to give the Baylor public access to their full-featured DIY makerspace. We offer 2-week passes on demand to anyone at Baylor: students, faculty, and staff. More details at
