EdD Writing Center Graduate Writing Consultant Job Description The Graduate Writing Consultant serves as a Graduate Assistant in the EdD Writing Center to assist with the writing development of students in the School of Education Online EdD Program. Candidates may come from a variety of majors, including (but not limited to) elementary and secondary education, social work, psychology, English, and composition. While there are basic qualifications and duties required by the position, the coordinator of the EdD Writing Center acknowledges that each Graduate Writing Consultant brings a unique set of qualities and skills. Qualifications Required: ● Strong writing skills and extensive experience writing at the graduate level, ● Strong interpersonal communications skills in online environments, ● Strong organizational skills, ● Strong attention to details, ● Intermediate-to-advanced Microsoft Word proficiency, Qualifications Desired: ● Tutoring and/or teaching experience, ● Knowledge of composition/writing theory knowledge of learning theory, ● Experience working with diverse student populations and learning styles, including students with learning differences and second-language users, ● Zotero proficiency, ● Academic publication and professional presentation experience. Duties and Responsibilities ● Provide individualized writing consultations with student writers from a variety of courses in order to assist them in improving their writing skills, ● Instruct clients in the use of writing resources available through the EdD Writing Center and Baylor’s campus, ● Complete required reports for each consultation session, ● Assist in maintaining client records, ● Assist in the promotion of the EdD Writing Center by conducting orientations and distributing literature; ● Attend staff meetings, ● and complete other duties as assigned by the EdD Graduate Writing Coordinator.
