Amber McKinney taught her first English as a Second Language in 2009 while studying at the University of Oklahoma. After completing her B.A. in linguistics, she went on to complete an M.A. in the same field at the University of Colorado, Boulder. While in Colorado, she worked as a pronunciation coach, an academic writing consultant, and an English as a second language teacher at Mountain Language Institute's intensive English program. From there she moved to Canberra, Australia where she taught English for academic purposes and critical thinking at ANU College, associated with the Australian National University.  She began teaching in the Global Gateway Program in January 2019.
