International Education Week
International Education Week (IEW), is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.
About the Week:
International Education Week (IEW) is a week of events at Baylor that promotes and celebrates international exchange worldwide. Our aim is to promote communication between different cultures at Baylor and to help develop worldwide leaders to serve. International Education Week contributes significantly to the university’s goal of a Global Baylor. The week offers various activities to students, faculty and staff that promote international exchange, cultural competence, and dialogue.
This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is just as important amidst currents events as ever before. It promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences. The Baylor community supports this global initiative in order to recognize our institution's global community and to promote further internationalization among faculty, staff, and students.
This year it's happening November 9-13, 2020!
This is a call for all colleges, departments, and student organizations to get involved with International Education Week 2020! Consider creating a unique activity specifically for International Education Week (IEW) or utilize an activity your group was already doing to celebrate global and multicultural themes. The shift to virtual programming has created a number of opportunities on how we can engage with each other. The Center for Global Engagement encourages you to think creatively about what sort of event your group might host.
Thanks to your efforts last year, there were many International Education Week events open to our campus community.
Suggested events include, but are certainly not limited to:
• A lessons from abroad information session
• A lesson on language or culture
• An international film screening
• A lecture and/or discussion on a global issue
