Fall 2021 Trips and Special Events
The Center for Global Engagement sponsors trips and various cultural events for International Students and Scholars each semester. The trips and events are open for any Baylor international student and scholar to attend as well as their family members and GFP friends.
Please also be aware that the availability for these events is dependent on current health and safety conditions. ISSS reserves the right to modify or cancel these events in line with said health and safety standards.
Refund Policy: If a fee is required for a trip or event and a student has paid that fee, no refunds will be granted after the registration deadline for that event. Students that cancel before the registration deadline must come to the ISSS office to obtain a refund.

Join ISSS for our very first event for the semester on Saturday, August 28. It's going to be adventurous and fun. Make sure to pack water, some sun screen, and clothes that are able to get dirty (long trousers are also encouraged for all, as the high ropes elements will require you to wear a harness for your safety).

Join your Global Bears Week Ambassador Group at 3pm in the international flags lobby at 3pm on Tuesday, August 31st and take part in one of Baylor's oldest (and tastiest) traditions at Dr. Pepper Hour. We will be walking as a group from the lobby over to the Student Union Building (SUB) to take part in this tradition. Keep checking your BU World Weekly and communicating with your Ambassador for more information.

In preparation for Baylor football's first home game, International Student & Scholar Services will be hosting a fun football workshop on Tuesday, September 7th on Zoom to help you reserve your football tickets and explain some of the rules, strategies, and best parts of the game. International Student & Scholar Services' own college football veteran, DSO Tim Johnson, will be available to answer all your questions and help you get ready to have the most fun at the game on Saturday!

Where: Meet at North Russell Residence Hall Lobby; 3pm
Take part in another American and Baylor tradition by attending Baylor football's first home game on Saturday, September 11th. Stop by McLane Stadium before the game for free food, fun and games! We will be meeting at the International Flags Lobby and walking over as a group to the tailgating space located next to the stadium.
Where: Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field
Come cheer on Baylor's Soccer (futbol) team as they take on conference rival Texas Tech. Since this is International Student (& Scholar) night, all students (& scholars) who register to attend via their Global Bears account will get a free dinner and possibly some other goodies as well!

The Baylor Homecoming Parade is one of the university's oldest traditions (and possibly the oldest homecoming parade in the USA!). Each year, Baylor's international student population is given a place of honor by marching just behind the Baylor marching band at the front of the parade while carrying the flags of all the countries of students represented at Baylor.
Join us in this time-honored tradition and prepare to have fun as the entire Baylor family comes out to watch the parade and cheer for you! As a parade participant, you are encourgeaged to wear Baylor clothing, or any traditional attire from your country you would like to celebrate.
We will be meeting early at the International Flags Lobby (Jones Student Commons) and walking over to the parade starting location downtown from there.

Where: Meet at 5th St Circle for transportation
Cost: $5 (Bring additional money for snacks and pumpkins!)
Come take part in a fun USA tradition by going to a pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin to carve! The Robinson Family Farm provides plenty of activities in addition to pumpkin picking, including snacks, rides, and a corn maze! Transportation and registration for the event is $5, and make sure to bring along some money for snacks and to purchase a pumpkin (prices can vary from $5-$20 depending on the pumpkin's size). We hope you are able to join us!

With the US holiday season fast approaching (Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas, Kwanza, etc.), take a ride with ISSS as we do some holiday shopping! We will be going to several popular shopping locations around Texas such as the North Park Mall, up in Dallas, Texas, as well as such grocery stores as 99 Ranch. Join us for one of our most popular events of the semester and get some great gifts and items at great prices! $5 for the shuttle and make sure to bring extra money for shopping and a meal.

Baylor Round Table proudly presents, in partnership with International Student & Scholar Services, the International Thanksgiving Meal. All international students and their families are invited to attend this business/smart-casual event that provides classic Thanksgiving foods, along with a presentation by Baylor Round Table speakers explaining the origin of the Thanksgiving holiday.

All graduates and their close families and friends are encouraged to attend this exent to exclusively celebrate the accomplishments of our December 2021 graduates. Hors d'oeuvres and graduating gifts will be provided for all graduating students. ISSS wants to celebrate your accomplishments!
