International Arrival & Global Bears Week

We are excited that you will soon be at Baylor! As you prepare for your arrival, below are some very important things for you to remember!

For the Fall 2018 semester, the arrival date for all incoming international students is Monday, August 13, 2018. This is on your I-20 or DS2019, and you are expected to check-in with our office that day. Please come to the Center for Global Engagement in the Hankamer Academic Building Room 160 to check in. If you arrive before the Arrival Date, you will need to make plans to stay in a local hotel.


For those who will be living in Baylor housing, you may move in to your residence on the Arrival Date, Monday, August 13, 2018, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. (If you arrive after 5:00 pm, you will not be able to get your Student ID which is required for move in, so you will need to make hotel arrangements for that evening and move in the next day.) 

If you receive an email saying that you have to move in on August 15 or later, you may disregard that email. International students are permitted to move in on August 13.


Global Bears Week

Global Bears Week is our office’s New International Student Orientation that runs from August 13 to 16, 2018. Please click HERE to see the Spring 2018 schedule for Global Bears Week. (The schedule for Fall 2018 Global Bears Week will be posted here in June.) A detailed schedule will be given to you when you arrive on August 13, 2018. Please note that there will be several REQUIRED events on the schedule including the required Immigration Session.

When you arrive, you will be greeted by CGE Ambassadors who are current Baylor students, both U.S. and International, whose job is to welcome international students and scholars to campus, accompanying you on cultural trips, and help you during your time at Baylor.  Please make plans to join us on Tuesday, August 14th at 6:30 PM at the Green and Gold Dinner where Baylor’s President and many of our faculty members will personally welcome you to Baylor University.


Immigration Sessions

You must register for an Immigration Session.  This is REQUIRED!  You will not be allowed to attend classes until this is completed.  You must be on time when the session begins; if you are late, you will not be allowed to enter and you will have to attend a different session.  The session lasts for 2 hours and you must be there the entire time.

Transportation to Baylor Campus

Arrival to Waco Before the Arrival Date (August 13, 2018)

Beginning on Saturday, August 11, 2018, we will have transportation from the Waco Airport to several hotels in Waco. We will only deliver students to the hotels on the transportation list. If you stay in a hotel that is not on that list, then you will need to make your own transportation arrangements. The hotels where drop off and pick up will be provided are:

  • Hilton Waco: 254-754-8484 - 113 S. University Parks Drive
  • Courtyard by Marriott: 866-238-4218 - 101 Washington Avenue
  • Hotel Indigo: 254-754-7000 - 211 Clay Avenue
  • Comfort Inn & Suites: 800-509-3426 - 2700 La Salle

On the morning of Monday, August 13, 2018, we will also provide transportation to campus from the designated hotels on the list. We will pick up in the morning. You must be ready to leave by 8:00am if you want Baylor to bring you to campus.

Arrival to Waco On the Arrival Date (August 13, 2018)

On August 13, 2018, we will have transportation from the Waco Airport and Bus Station to the Baylor campus.

Beginning in May, you will be able to click on this link (HERE) if you need a ride from the Waco Airport or Bus Station. (We only pick-up from the Waco airport, not Dallas, Austin or Houston.)
