Trips & Special Events

The Center for Global Engagement sponsors trips and various cultural events for International Students and Scholars each semester. The programs listed below are open for any Baylor international student and scholar to attend as well as their family members and friends.

Refund Policy: If a fee is required for a trip or event and a student has paid that fee, no refunds will be granted after the registration deadline for that event. Students that cancel before the registration deadline must come to the ISSS office to obtain a refund.

Fall 2018 Events and Trips

Baylor Football Tailgate – September 1, 2018 

Starts at 4:00 p.m.! FREE event!  Bring your PAWS friend and Welcome Family!  Join Baylor & Beyond at Baylor’s first football game of the year.  We will meet at the tent in the Student Organization section of Touchdown Alley, (beside the Baylor Law School on this side of the river). Click HERE to register.

CGE Fall Retreat – September 7-8, 2018 (buses to Three Mountain Retreat, Clifton, Texas)

A retreat just for Baylor’s International students at a gorgeous Texas Ranch not far from the Baylor Campus. We will spend the night in bunk houses (Air Conditioned) and enjoy a Hamburger cookout, Texas Barbeque, Hayride, Hiking, Volleyball, Firepit and S’Mores, and meet a lot of Baylor staff that are coming to introduce many interesting campus opportunities.  Our CGE Ambassadors are going with us to show you all about Texas living! Cost $20.  Sign up online and pay and sign a waiver in the CGE office in Hankamer 160 to confirm your registration by Friday, August 24th at 5:00 p.m.

Round Rock Outlets, Asian and Indian Markets Trip –  Saturday,  September 29, 2018

Visit one of the most reputable outlet malls in Austin, TX!  Shop and enjoy! We will then drive to Hmart and an Indian food market for you to gather all the spices and cooking needs for the semester.  Bus leaves at 9:00 a.m. from the 5th street circle and returns at 5:00 p.m. Cost $10.  Register HERE and pay and sign a waiver to confirm your registration by Monday, September 24th at 5:00 p.m.

Texas State Fair Trip – Saturday, October 13, 2018

The Texas State Fair is one of the proudest traditions in Texas!  You will eat fried funny goods, see car exhibits, see a rodeo , farm animals and horses, live music and ride a big carousel plus other famous fair events.  You can also see BIG TEX! We will supply a map of all events and times when you register. Enjoy the day! Cost $20. Bus leaves from the 5th street circle at 10:00 a.m. and returns at 8:00 p.m. Register HERE and pay and sign a waiver to confirm your registration by Monday, October 8th at 5:00 p.m.

“Texas Stockyards/Cattle Drive and Billy Bob’s Dance Hall – Saturday, November 10, 2018

Visit “Cowtown” and see a real cattle drive, visit western wear stores, visit the farm animal and horse exhibits, enjoy touring this famous cowboy/cowgirl event and end up at one of Texas’ most famous Western dance halls for lunch and Texas Two Step dancing lessons. Cost $15 – Registration will open in September.

Thanksgiving Dinner -  Thursday, November 15, 2018 - 6:00 p.m.

Have you experienced a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner? This American holiday centers on gathering with friends, family and good food! Students and their families are invited to attend this wonderful evening where we will enjoy turkey, dressing and a few other surprises. Make sure to include family members when you register by Thursday, November 8th.  This event is FREE. - Registration link coming soon.
