The collective support of the Baylor Family last year provided for 2,287 scholarship awards totaling nearly $30 million, including $15 million at the schools/colleges/department level.

Baylor University Scholarship Fund Creates Pathway for Student Success

There are more than 850 donor-supported scholarships that help students afford a Baylor education. The gifts of many to the Baylor University Scholarship Fund last year combined to advance affordability initiatives that directly benefit our Bears. One scholarship recipient, Ellie Herrington, said the financial assistance she received made her dream of attending Baylor a reality.

“I honestly don’t think I would be at Baylor without my scholarships,” Ellie said. “The generosity of the Baylor Family dramatically impacted where I got to go to school.”

These scholarships have afforded Ellie the time to double major in anthropology and archeology. The junior from Marble Falls, Texas, is the Vice President of Missions for Vertical Ministries and a Chi-O sorority member. She credits her ability to get involved in campus organizations to a peace about her financial situation.

“My experience at Baylor has been amazing,” she said. “I’ve been able to make incredible friendships and connections and to get involved on campus in ways that have shaped my time here as a student.”

Ellie aspires to be a museum curator, and she believes she is drawing ever closer to this dream, thanks to the legacy of giving bestowed on her by fellow Baylor Bears.

“I am just so very thankful. Scholarships have deeply impacted my life and the lives of my friends and roommates too,” Ellie said. “The amazing donors probably have no idea how many students they actually impact on a daily basis from whatever amount, big or small, that they’re able to give. They have such a big heart to donate. I can’t say thank you enough!”
