Rita Abercrombie

MAT in German, December 1994 SWTSU; BA in German/French, 1992, SWTSU. Attended German Elementary School through High School.

2003- Lecturer Baylor University, 2002 –2003 Instructor of German at SWTSU, levels two through four; 1993-2002 German Teacher at the High-School level, German I – Advanced Placement; Certification in German, English, and ESL; 1999 Long Distance Teaching Training from Region XIII; 2001 Intel Teach to the Future ; 1995 Instructor at SWTSU, German level one and two; Contributing Writer for Holt, Rinehart and Winston’s series – “Komm mit” activity book; Presenter at TFLA conference; Sponsor of German Club, exchange program and educational tours.

2000-2002 Department Chair of Foreign Languages, Marble Falls High School; 1996-1998 member of Campus Educational Improvement Committee; 1976-86 held position of Right-of-Way Agent, City of Aurora, Colorado; Chairman of the Public-Relations Committee, International Right-of-Way Association.

Fluent in German and English, proficient in French. Born and raised in Germany. Member of Who’s Who among American Teachers – and Colleges, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Delta PI, Phi Sigma Iota; and past President of Delta Phi Alpha, Honor Fraternity of German.

2002 Presenter at AATG workshop; 1990-2002 Judge at Foreign Language competitions at regional and state levels; 1996 and 2001 Sponsor of Immersion Weekend for upper level students of German.

Naturalized US citizen since 1965. Became resident of Marble Falls, Texas, in 1986. Married (husband is retired Air Force Colonel); our children are all married, and we have nine grandchildren.
