New Faculty Orientation is a two-day program for all newly hired faculty focusing on teaching and scholarship within the context of a Christian university. You will meet other Baylor family members - fellow newcomers, professors, administrators, and staff - while learning more about what makes Baylor a great college to work for.
The program is held the Monday and Tuesday of the week prior to the start of the semester and you will receive an email from the Provost's Office with details and logistical information. Both days of the orientation include breakfast and lunch. Academic and campus leaders also attend the lunches, providing you a great opportunity to network and initiate cross-departmental relationships with colleagues. Additionally, the Provost hosts a dinner for all new faculty during orientation. Upon arrival, you will receive a packet of information including resources across campus, a course catalog, and a notebook.
For more information, email Debi Talley in the Office of the Provost.
New Faculty Mentoring Program is for new tenure-track faculty. The mentoring program pairs each new faculty member with a tenured faculty mentor who, through a series of formal and informal meetings, helps to initiate the new faculty member into the Baylor community and to facilitate his or her successful progress toward tenure.
The program is led by Jim Bennighof in the Office of the Provost. Approximately every other month, he invites new tenured and tenure-track faculty and their mentors to a buffet dinner, presentation, and discussion from 5-7pm.
For more information, email Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Policy, Jim Bennighof.
