Baylor Bookstore Hosts Dr. Seuss Celebration on Monday, March 13

March 2, 2017

Baylor Bookstore is celebrating National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America Day with a Dr. Seuss-themed event on Monday, March 13, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Read Across America Day is an annual event held to encourage reading by celebrating the birthday of beloved children’s book author and illustrator Theodor Seuss Geisel.

Baylor Bookstore will kick off the festivities with entertainment by Waco Libraries Story Teller Vivian Rutherford. Students from surrounding elementary schools will visit the bookstore for a special reading of Dr. Seuss’s What Pet Should I Get? Bringing the book to life, local pet shop Exotic Critters will be exhibiting several species of interesting pets. Other special guests include classic Dr. Seuss characters Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2.

“We’re committed to supporting learning and enhancing the campus experience for the whole Baylor community,” said Allen Pine, Baylor Bookstore Manager. “The bookstore team happily welcomes campus members and local Waco residents to join us for this free in-store celebration of reading.”
