Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber Receives State-Wide Recognition

The Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber in Waco was recently selected as the 2019 Small Chamber of the Year by the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC). This is one of the most coveted recognitions TAMACC awards. Waco’s Cen-Tex Hispanic Chamber received this award at the annual Hispanic Business Convention of Texas Gala in San Marcos in August for its impressive accomplishments, activities, community involvement, and growth.
The Hispanic Chamber has been around since 1975 helping to unite the Hispanic community in Central Texas. The organization's president and CEO, Alfred Solano, who grew up in Waco and just celebrated his first anniversary with the organization, stated: "As the increase in growth continues at a rapid pace in the Hispanic community, there is a prominent need for our organization to serve as a resource." He also added, "It takes Chamber members and volunteers to join with the community to successfully promote the business, economic, educational, and social development of the Hispanic community in Waco and Central Texas."
Along with the launch of new programs in entrepreneurship, leadership, social media management, QuickBooks, and HUB certification obtainment, the Chamber hosts fun projects that showcase the hard work going on behind the scenes and community events like the second annual Floating Mercado held on August 25th.
Things continue to buzz at the Chamber. Each month, nearly 100 Hispanic community leaders and other business professionals meet at the Chamber offices on LaSalle Avenue to promote ideas and strive to better serve the increasing cultural diversity of Central Texas.
